A citywide plan for public safety readiness
Safe & Ready Miami brings together fire-rescue, police, emergency operations, and 911 coordination under one long-term infrastructure plan. The goal is to address aging facilities, improve readiness, strengthen coordination, and position Miami to meet future demand with a more modern public safety system.
The plan is built around three strategic areas
Failing Infrastructure
Repair, replace, and modernize facilities where police, firefighters, and EMS crews live and work during 24-hour shifts.
Public Safety Coordination
Create a unified home for police, fire-rescue, emergency operations, real-time operations center, and 911 response coordination.
Response Times
Improve coverage in neighborhoods where service needs have outpaced existing infrastructure and emergency response times are already longer.
A 7-Year Phased Timeline
Multiple projects run in parallel — accelerating delivery across the city.
The plan is phased to move urgent projects forward while managing design, permitting, construction, and cost over time.
Repairs and modernization would continue on a rolling basis while major new construction and replacement projects advance through design and construction.

Projects would be prioritized based on readiness, land availability, urgency, and the ability to move into design and construction without disrupting emergency services.
Step 1
Ready-to-build projects
Station 10 can move early because design is complete.
Step 2
City-owned or secured sites
Projects with land control can advance faster.
Step 3
Land acquisition sites
Other new stations would move forward as sites are secured.
Step 4
Rolling repairs
Facility repairs and modernization would continue across the full timeline.
